About MarkReply

Engineering a faster, more private web.

The Mission

The modern web has a weight problem. Simple text interactions, like leaving a comment on a blog, have been hijacked by bloated JavaScript frameworks and intrusive ad-tracking networks. We believe that adding community features to a static site shouldn't cost you your Lighthouse score or your users' privacy.

MarkReply was built to prove that you can have dynamic, real-time interactivity on the web without shipping megabytes of client-side code.

The Architecture

We took a completely different approach to building a web widget. Instead of a heavy React or Vue Single Page Application, we rely on server-side rendering and hypermedia:

  • The Engine: Written entirely in Rust using the Axum framework for blazing-fast, memory-safe execution.
  • The Frontend: Powered by HTMX. We ship 0 KB of custom JavaScript to your users' browsers.
  • The Infrastructure: Multi-tenant isolation utilizing SQLite, orchestrated with Caddy for On-Demand TLS and PocketBase for tenant administration.
  • The Observability: Built with enterprise-grade telemetry in mind, ensuring reliable uptime and instant asynchronous alerts via Valkey.

About the Creator

MarkReply was engineered by Rajasekhar Gundala, a Senior Infrastructure & Web Platform Leader.

With a deep background in system administration, DevOps, and enterprise observability architecture, Rajasekhar built this platform to solve a personal frustration with the state of web bloat. Drawing on extensive experience with high-performance infrastructure, the engine was designed from day one to be resilient, highly optimized, and effortlessly deployable.

Commercial Open-Source

We believe in software freedom. The core engine powering MarkReply is licensed under the AGPLv3. You are completely free to inspect the code, compile the Rust binary, and self-host the Docker container on your own infrastructure forever.

For teams and creators who prefer to focus on their content rather than managing servers, routing, and SSL certificates, we offer our fully managed cloud service.
